Scale Lineweights

Hello All:

Just wondering what you guys do when you need to scale the line weights of your prints - in the case of our office we have the settings setup for full size prints (Arch D), when printing on 11x17 paper for check prints.  Normally, in Autocad, we would just scale the print to fit the paper and then check the scale lineweights button.  Is there a scale lineweights butting available in Bricscad?  If not, how do you handle printing reduced scale check prints with the appropriate lineweights?  Creating a new ctb file is a possibility of course but this is rather time consuming to do manually...

That being said one things that I have always missed in Autocad is the ability to scale lineweights when printing from model space - when I need to bang out a quick print for somebody to check a portion of a drawing - or for preliminary stuff where I don't have time to waste creating viewports and a proper drawing - I need to create a viewport, scale it, check my scale lineweights button and then I can print it to make it look decent.  It would be great to print with a window/current view/etc. from model space, set your scale and then check the scale lineweights check box...

  • I create a full size PDF output and print it scaled to fit the check sheet size.
  •  OK, that's what I end up doing too.  I am curious if the Bricscad team is planning to add a scale lineweights button to model and paper space?  Both would be a huge benefit!
  • My laser printer (on which I print proofs) also prints different lineweights than my plotter.

I just bit the bullet and created a dedicated ctb file solely for the LaserJet.
FWIW, this task is made much easier with a proggy "Plotstyle Viewer", which exports your ctb file into an .xls file. Very cool.

  • I do the same as Greg.  If I really need to send a client an 11x17 image I use Bluebeam to adjust the page size. It will scale everything on the sheet and reduce the page size accordingly.
