Drafting Standards for Eletrical
I've mostly been a structural guy. although i was once part of an avionics/electrical group, I was hired for installations and just picked up/winged the rest.
Is there a drafting standard for electrical?
my son is starting his EE in the fall and I wanted to get him started on Bricscad.
I'm hoping if i give him a decent CAD background he won't have to flip burgers or load trucks for part time jobs like i did.
TIA

It depends on where you are, what kind of projects you work on, and who the clients are. I am a PE in the USA that does electrical design for buildings. For tenant improvements and small projects I am generally free to create drawings however I want to and to use whatever symbols I choose. For big projects and government projects there are frequently specific standards, but there is no single standard at this point -- everyone seems to have developed their own requirements. If you do a search for >> cad standards electrical << you'll find lots of hits. <br>0
