Import (ESRI Shape) files into Bricscad
One colegue is asking me:
Is it possible - will be possible to import and then export *.shp (ESRI Shape) files into Bricscad.
This is possible in Autocad Civil 3D and Autocad Map 3D, but not in Autocad and Autocad LT.
They are using the Questor (DHV) software, which don't support .dwg files, so they need to convert .shp files.

Hi Rihard,
How are you doing?
You can import the SHP geometry into Bricscad using the SYCODE (now 3d Systems) plugin for SHP files import into Bricscad.
The last I checked it - it was unable to import the database and attributes part of the SHP. Only geometry could be imported.
You can ask your colleague to check out this app on www.sycode.com or on the Bricsys application catalog.

DotSoft's MapWorks for Bricscad (V12 Pro Windows) can import and export ESRI Shape files. The related database (DBF) data is attached to the objects as EED (Extended Entity Data) and editing/labeling tools are provided.0

Hi Terry,
That is fantastic! I can now recommend it to a few enquiries here in India.
I did not know that we already had a SHP import/export tools in Bricscad.

I found MapWorks handled a large shp file (16mb) and Bricscad didn't miss a beat.
Last year I tried Sycode and same file crashed Bricscad and a smaller one froze the program.
Haven't tried Sycode since.0
