undo picture paste

I pasted an Excel worksheet into a drawing as a picture, but when I rebooted ICAD (2.2.0027) it was gone and a notice "Failed to create the item" was in its place. I think I installed the picture as a linked object. The notice won't go away--pops up at every command. How do I undo this and get rid of the recurring "Failed to create.." notice. I have tried everything I can think of.

    //mailIntellicad probably lost track of the object. It's not clear if this is a windows or an intellicad problem.we'll use system variable 'expert' to suppress the message. That is what the variable is for.regards, sander
