missing attributes in v3.1

I have hundreds of blocks with attributes in them. In the past when I insert one of these blocks the attributes disply as part of the block. One of the things displyed is the file name of the end view of the the part that needs to be inserted separately. There is no whay to know the file name elsewise as the names have no relation to the part. Just a control number. So whats my point? In v3.1 the attributes dont display and using ddatte gets a blank screen as though none exist even though exploding the block displays them (empty of data of course). Why is this no longer working?J Templeton
