Rendering a Sphere
in Linux
I'm trying to put together a background to render some hardware i've been modeling.
when i try to wrap a map of the moon around a sphere it's not quite right, but at least shows up in the preview. when i apply it to my sphere using the material/layer it looks more like random noise. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Moon Map
the latest build has been awesome. i'm finally able to start working larger assemblies. so if i come across as complaining lately, i'm not. i'm just Soooooooooooooo close to being able to do everything i need.
Thanks.

Have you tried modifying the Map Transformation Scale values?
Perhaps you already know this, but just in case: after creating a saved view, it is possible to define a background for that view in the View Explorer. The background can range from a solid color to a gradient hatch to an image.0 -
no I didn't know.
Thanks.
btw, i did try the scale, it was the only reason i got it that far in the preview.0 -
where do you edit the background gradient or image?
i found where to change the default directory, but not set an image0 -
What happens if you change the rotation value - it looks to me like the first image is scaled correctly, but the map is wrapped around the sphere 90 degrees to the 'equator' of the moon...0

Scratch my last comment - the rotation didn't do what I thought it would - I played around a bit and think that the problem is the projection type of the map that you are using - the top of the map is stretched to make it fill the sheet size...0
