Making a new font

I was curious to know if it was possible to make a new font for use with Bricscad? Are there any utilities one could use to complile a font from a dwg drawing of each letter? I assume that the drawing would need to be converted to a shape file somehow and then a shx font.

Thanks,

Kurt

  •  Hi Kurt,

Customizing Bricscad by Ralph Grabowski has some introductory information on how to create a SHX based font. The SHP format has been around for a long time, I'm sure if you look in an older Acad customisation book (library) from the DOS days, or get hold of an early Acad manual, you find out what you need to know. Be prepared for some pain, it's rather archaic, arcane stuff.

BcadTools (windows) provides the compile command, which is what you need to convert a SHP -> SHX. Maybe you could contact the publisher for a Linux version. Old (like 2.6, R9)copies of Acad may have provided compile as a separate .exe, so that might be an option.
