3D Modeling Components merge with background

When modeling in 3D, wireframe mode in Model Space has a good clear black background. Switch to hide mode for some operations, I get a grey background that the color of the edges of the component is very difficult to discern against. Gauraud shade is even worse, with dropping edges completely, and any components that are properly grey vanish against the background.

Q: any way to regain control over the background color in ANY hide or shade mode while 3D Modeling so I can set it to BLACK in any shade mode ??

Thanks -

Charley

  • I am anything but a 3D specialist. But doing a quick test on BC 12.2.18 I cannot reproduce your problem.
If you start a new drawing, create a box en use Gouraud do you have the same problem?
I don't know if this is useful, but have you looked at the SHADEDGE variable?
Note that you can also choose gouraud+edges as the shademode.
  • Please, about the background color in 3D mode, how I could change the color? Because I make some perspectives as real render (with materials and lights) to print as jpg and use to do posters but I was not able to change the default backgound color (lite ciano).
  • Background is one of the properties of a saved View. So in order to set the background color, the 3DCONTEXT command first creates a view named 'Home' and sets the background to a blue/grey gradient color. If the 'Home' view already exists, it is reused as is.

The background settings of the Home view (or of any view you created) can be modified using the View explorer. After modifying View parameters, remember to set the view Current so you see the modifications applied. This can be done from the right click menu in the View list or by clicking in the leftmost field of the View list.

If you want to modify the Home background settings not only for the current drawing, the desired modifications should be applied to your drawing template files.
  • Dear Mr. Hans De Backer,
    thanks a lot.
