Newbie question
Hi All
I just started using bricsCAD (Demo) I just drawn a 2D model plane part, now i want to extrude it but i can't get the extrude tool to show.
The piece is drawn with just the Line tool. I can't find any gaps between 2 lines so i don't know why I can't Extrude.
Hope the attached pictere helps to explain my problem.
Thanks

Hi Stijn,
Looks like you have created your profile using lines. To extruded you must convert these to a closed object either polyline, or region.
To convert to a Polyline use ._PEDIT (on the menu bar select Modify | Edit Polyline). When prompted to select a polyline, select one of your line segments. You will be asked of you want to convert to a Polyline, select yes. You then use the _Join option to select all the other line segments together.
To convert to a region use ._REGION (on the menu bar select Draw| Region). When prompted select all the lines on your profile and press enter. This should result in a region being created.
Having done this you should find you can now extrude.

Hi Jason
Thanks for the quick and great answer this helped me allot.
So far i only have used Inventor student edition to experiment but this seems a much more affordable program once you get to know it.
Thanks again!0 -
BOUNDARY command would also be an option.0
