Using fields to assign values to attributes

 I am using fields to assign the filename to the value of an attribute in a detail drawings. However, when those detail blocks are brought into an assembly, they then take on the filename of the assembly. Is there any method that can be used to keep the blocks from renaming themselves?

If you use the xref-mechanism instead of inserting the detail drawings as blocks the fields will 'keep' their values.
