Hi, Stephen,
I just tried on my machine : "SaveAs" -> "2007 binary dxf" -> result was "test.dxf" ...
Where do you see .dwg file extensions ?
Does your Windows Explorer shows file extensions ? It should do so - otherwise you can not distinguish "test.dwg" and "test.dxf" as extensions are omitted
(btw., terrible safety fault by MS - no longer default in Win 8)
Also, where do you "check properties" ?
Many greetings !0 -
Hi Torsten,
when I save it as dxf i just right click on the resulting file right click and check properties, is there a better way. But I have sent the drawing to 2 cnc guys who say they are not recieving dxf files but dwg's. They use cnc nesting programs which require them to be dxf. I have resaved and resaved but it makes no differencem it seems.

If I check the file properties of an AutoCAD 2007 Binary DXF file the file type is mentioned as: BricsCAD Drawing Exchange Format file.
I believe this is something that is stored in the Windows Registry.
@ Stephen: have you (previously) installed some Autodesk product?0 -
@ Sephen: Have you tried sending AutoCAD 2007 ASCII DXF?0

Hi Roy, yes i have but I though I deleted it, must be a reminant hey?0

Oh the other thing I did was to install a "select similar" 'plug in' that said it was an autocad light priduct in one of its files

Dear Stephen,
please ensure that your Windows Explroer shows file extensions !
Under option ... by default it is off ...
Then, using "SaveAs" with "2007 binary dxf" will create a DXF file ... if you open that by notepad.exe, you should see
"AutoCAD Binary DXF" or similar ...
Also, as Roy suggested, try "ASCII DXF" ...
In Explorer -> Properties of a selected file read information from Registry ... so the given information could be affected by other (CAD) applications :-)
Only reliable :
- file type like "test.dxf"
- having a look into using notepad.exe
Hope this helps ?0
