If an alias activated immediately after pressing one letter there could be only 26 aliases.  If C was assigned as CIRCLE there would be no way to have CO defined as COPY because the circle command would always activate before the O could be pressed.

You would need to use something like AutoHotKey to do what want.

In the Keyboard tab of the Customize window you can assign any command to a function key.
Then the function key executes the command without pressing RETURN.

 Years ago, I purchased a Nostromo N52 Keypad which was designed for video games.  I customized it so that the commonly used commands were on the buttons, holding down a thumb switch would activate the secondary command for the button, there were three or four different commands that could be assigned to one button.  With each button I could program a sequence of keys, each ending in a return, so all commands could be entered by hitting one button.  So I could have c for circle one one button, I could then hold down a switch which would then allow that same button to issue the command CO for copy to the program.

It worked fairly well but did take a bit of time to get setup and used to, however there were fewer buttons to push to run a command and a fair bit less hand strain as I wasn't moving my hands all over the keyboard during the day...

Es verdad que tendría que sacrificar algunas teclas  para alias de una sola letra (pero ¿Se verían afectadas las demás por esta propiedad? - seguro que si-).

Ya uso las teclas de Funcion de la F2 a la F6 para ejecutar pequeños  "script" y es esto lo que pretendia hacer pero con el teclado normal y para comandos "directos".

Es una buena idea la del teclado N52 para lo que pretendo. Buscare por aqui (Sevilla-España) esa opcion.
