v13 large drawings - random crashes

Using BricsCAD v13.2.10 64-bit version to edit large drawings of approx. 227000 entities, when attempting to move a block of 55,000 entities the program pauses for a short while then crashes, the previous backup file or auto-save file can be used to retrieve the drawing but this has happened many times now at random intervals from 10 minutes to a few hours into the drawing.

The laptop PC's are running Win7 64-bit O.S.

16GB RAM & an Intel I7 2.5GHz processor with NVidia Geforce GTX580M graphics cards, so they should be up to handling the large drawing files of 22MB

Does anyone have similar experience, or a suggestion to avoid this?

  • Without guessing at the cause, you could try turning Dragmode off and/or setting 'selection preview display' at 0.
  • While it's not an exact comparison and doesn't help your problem, I created 250,000 polylines containing 400 vertices each (170mb) and moved ~150,000 of them.  A modest delay but expected on this 7yr old machine.

Perhaps your drawing is corrupt, have you ran AUDIT, purged, etc?
