New Leader Entities

I know someone thinks its an improvement but all of us here do not like the way v3.1 does leader lines. We often draw leader lines to an object or existing block of text. The new leader absolutly requires text to be entered or it cancels the whole thing. We have to enter text we dont want and then delete it. For us this extra work is not worth the improvement the single entity leader gives us. Would like to see a null text be allowable.J Templeton

  • I thought this was always the case(?) I have always got around this by just putting one space (spacebar) in when prompted for text. Of course nothing shows and the command is satisfied that text has been entered.Nick

  • My initial playing with the leader has revealed some nice features like converting the lines to a spline, multiple lines of text, etc. However I haven't found how to make the arrow and text conform to the dimension settings. Any ideas? Also the Mtext still seems to be problematic. I can't seem to edit it. I just get the word "varies" in the editing box.Nick

  • I dont have the same problem editing the MTEXT. It edits fine (or as fine as MTEXT ever did anyway). I did notice that splining a leader line disconnected the line from the arrow head (graphically anyway).J

  • I have had problems with the 3.1.001 MTEXT, I havent downloaded 3.1.005 yet. However, it would say "VARIES" even with only one selected. However, it doesn't do it with all MTEXT objects. It seems that I only have problems with longer MTEXT objects. As far as the leader goes, I actually prefer the one object leader although I see your point about the no text leader which I will do at times as well.Kevin

  • Noticed that somewhere between 20 and 25 lines of Mtext in ver. 3.1.005 it says varies when selected. Also, if you use the full editor and change the text height, the text becomes an unusable dot.Kevin

  • I read somewhere earlier that Mtext had problems handling more than 256 char in one go. Maybe this still applies.

  • The problem of mtext handling more than 256 characters is real enough. It's fixed in current development code so it will be in the next release.regards, sander

  • Jef, I don't understand the leader issue.script:leaderenter pointsenterenterNone enterthis is how i would create a leader without annotation in acad and icad. It does look attrcative to allow for the option None for annotations, but a getstring doesn't combine with keywords, So the options would have to change , and become different from acad, and from current icad. Please clarify.regards, sander

  • In past entering no text was sufficent. you didnt have to hunt down the N key or enter a blank and werent thrown into the ever buggy MTEXT editor. But it is a minor issue. I would much rather have your people fix all the known bugs going back to V2.2.009 esp UNDO.J Templeton

  • Sander, Thanks for clarifying the issue of "N" to select when creating just the leader line. My questions relates leader heads and size selection. First, is there a way to lock the specified arrowhead into place?. I hope I am not missing something, I set my dimstyles in "icad.dwg," when I open a new or exitsing drawing it resets to the user specified mark "start&end" (tick), I was hoping that this new feature would get me away from having a dimstyle for leaders and one for dimemsioning with my drawings. Second, is there something in the works to set seperate sizes for the "start" "end" and "leader" selections?Thank you,John
