making hatch features by myself or can i find this anywhere

Hello, I've only recently begun to Bricscad and cad drawing in general. The existing standard hatch features I find very limited. I think for example at the blockline by partition-wall. Question: Is there a simple way to make hatches by myself  or else there are shadings' to became for  free' ?  Possible was this before a topic ?....Adrie

  • It is possible to create your own hatch patterns but it is not very easy.
Hatch patterns have hardly come along in the past 25 years.

    The two biggest problems are:
To create a curve you have to use a number of straight facets.
To create 'solid' sections in the pattern you have to use a series of closely spaced lines.

Some links to get you started:

  • Google "Autocad hatch patterns" and you will find hundreds of links. Some are free.

New hatch patterns are easily appended to your default.pat file using a text editor.

  • Thank you so much Robt.

I had previously AutoCad 2008, but that is gone. I do see how I Bowl, possibly by a trial of AutoCad 13 or 14

  • Note: Autocad hatch patterns are compatible with BricsCAD.
Attached my default.pat which I've collected over time (I've many others).
Do you have specific hatch patterns that you are looking for?

    default-OPT.zip

  • @ Adrie:
Please have another look at the links I have provided. With the information in the links you should be able to create the hatch patterns you are looking for.
The 3rd link gives you some data for architectural hatch patterns. The first two provide information on how to use pattern data. All you have to do is copy some data from the .pdf and paste it in a .pat text file. And put that file in the right location.
If you are going to use patterns 'from the web' you should be aware of scaling issues (default.pat vs. iso.pat).
  • Thanks Robt and Roy, I'm going to follow up all your answers and advice.
