32 bit or 64 bit version and compatabilty with applications
I have a 64 bit laptop that I want to install ver 14 on.
But I also have other programs that to get full benefit from plugins can only install the 32 bit version of the program.
I depend on some applications to make Bricscad work for me.
I don't do any heavy 3D work but do sometimes use 200-300mb geotiffs as backgrounds.
I don't want to compromise any applications so ask for other wisdom on this before taking the wrong turn and ruing the event.
regards
Richard

The 32 bit version should be OK for the work you do.
It may help to know that since V14, a persistent cache is used when working with raster images. This means the 300 Mb geotiffs will be converted and cached in a multi-resolution format - the conversion only happens once, the first time the drawing is loaded. After that, only those pixels that are actually used on screen are kept in memory, on most laptops this means maximum 1920x1080 pixels * 3 bytes / pixel = 6.2 Mb of ram are used at most, also in case 100 heavy geotiffs are attached...!
Besides, also the loading of such drawings became instant, instead of requiring lots of time.0 -
Thanks Hans
Interesting about the geotiffs.
I have installed and will give them a run for their money.
Looking forward to an improvement in that area, though BricsCad is better than others in handling my large images.0
