multiple height values on a 3d polyline
I use briscad to view/edit dwg files exported from my Surveying software (12d)
On my original data in 12d line strings have different z values along a string to represent changes in height along ground surfaces.
However when exporting to a dwg file z values along a string are all nominal.
Is it possible to have different heights at verities in a stringed line (3d polyline)?
Cheers

Hi Elliot, each vertex in a 3D polyline definitely can have different z values. Is there an option in your export settings perhaps which defines 2d or 3d strings? Or alternatively can you confirm that the output is definitely a 3D polyline and not a 2d or lwpolyline as the latter two will only have a single elevation.0

Thanks for your reply Daniel,
I have exported as a 3d file.
When i inquire the string in briscad it says its a 3d polyline.
However if i change a height on one of the vertices in a string every vertex will adopt the same height?
Is there a setting in briscad i have set wrong?
I have thoroughly checked 12d and exhausted most problems it could possibly be when exporting.
any advise would be greatly appreciated!0 -
So when you first open the cad file exported from 12d, are the polyline vertices correct or incorrect? Your explanation suggests the issue occurs after you edit the polyline vertex. If this is the case what method are you using for changing the z value? I perform the same action using the properties bar and I have no issues using Bricscad 14.1.10. Also the engineers in my office regularly dump 3d strings which i evaluate in Bricscad so at the very least your problem is solveable!0
