Updating user created Templates

Morning Everybody,

I am slowly getting to grips with Bricscad (V14), and have created myself a Template with my own layers etc.

This is when the difficulties started, initially it didn't show up in the Template list until I updated from the Demo to the full version.

Now when I have got a bit more experienced with Bricscad, I have updated the Template and copied it on top of the old one, but it hasn't had any affect, it is still referencing the old version.

Is there a step I am missing or some way to find the file Bricscad is still referencing and remove/refresh the list to accept the new file?

Also as an aside, is there any way to show file previews in Windows Explorer as opposed to the Big Bricscad Logo?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Regarding the template files there are two things that may confuse you.
    1.
By default template files can be found in two locations. There is a Templates folder in the UserDataCache folder. This folder contains backups. The templates in your 'Template path' folder are the ones that are used when you start a new drawing. To find that folder you can use the _SETTINGS command and search for 'TemplatePath'.
    2.
Drawings created from a template do not reference the template. This is unlike certain office applications where such a reference does exist.
  • Roy,

Thanks very much once again for your help!

I didn't think to look in my User Folders, I went straight to the one under Bricscad in Program Files!

    Much appreciated.
