Template error

I am not sure how this happened, but a few weeks ago I started getting an error when I open the program from the desktop for a new drawing session (i.e., just clicking the icon, not clicking an existing drawing icon).  The error says: Unable to load drawing (then path to templates) The path that was used points to a directory, not a file.  The path listed to the templates is correct.  And in the template settings it points to the correct .dwt file.  After I click "OK" it will make a blank drawing (without our layers, setting, etc.) I am using 14.2.13.. As far as I can tell this did not happen when I started using v14, but it did start after one of the updates (don't know which one).

I would try creating a new user profile. If the issue goes away, then it points to an issue within your current profile.

We know about such an issue and resetting the profile will work but it can be avoided. There is a variable TemplatePath for the templatefolder location, and there is a variable BASEFILE for the name of the default template. BASEFILE should be a filename(with or without path). BASEFILE should not be a foldername but there have been cases where BASEFILE became a foldername and then it cannot be used.
The SETTINGS dialog will not show the difference between BASEFILE being empty or a foldername. The fix is to edit BASEFILE.

Jason, you were right.  I created a new user profile and the issue disappeared.  Alexander, thanks for the explanation as to why this happened.  I don't really use profiles, so it is not a big deal.  But in the future I'll know a quicker way to remedy this issue if it occurs.  Thanks All.
