Actually it does, because AutoCAD 2015 uses the AutoCAD 2013 file format. Starting with AutoCAD 2016 we should expect a new dwg file format if they keep the usual time frame of three years for a dwg format change.

    For those interested:
AutoCAD 2007 dwg format is used by AutoCAD 2007/8/9
AutoCAD 2010 dwg format is used by AutoCAD 2010/11/12
AutoCAD 2013 dwg format is used by AutoCAD 2013/14/15
  • One thing I forgot to mention, Bricscad is usually trailing one AutoCAD release with supporting a new dwg file format.

E.g. when AutoCAD 2016 introduces a new dwg file format then by the time AutoCAD 2017 is released Bricsys will have added support for the AutoCAD 2016 file format. (often 1-2 months before the new AutoCAD release, but it will depend on the amount of changes in the dwg file format)
  •  Also be aware that even if BricsCAD can read/write a particular version, that does not mean it fully supports the various types of objects introduced in the new version.  For example, dynamic blocks are currently shown, but have more limited ability to edit existing dynamic blocks, and it is not possible to create a new dynamic block in BricsCAD.

If Bricsys supports a particular Acad version, then the objects typically will survive a round-trip, even if you cannot do anything with them in BricsCAD. So, if a customer sends you something with a new type of entity, you can do some work on it, and re-save with the new type of entity still there.

Full support for new entity types can lag several versions.
