Error when I attempt to insert PDF underlay.

I originally took this problem to Bricsys support, but they were unable to reproduce the problem.  I am hoping others on the forum may have a clue about what is going on.

I should mention that I am using Platinum version 14.2.13 on Windows 7.  Also, this problem was proceeded by problems with opening BricsCAD, when it would immediately cause a pop-up saying "Briscad Application has stopped running".  This starting error was happening around 50% of the time that day.  But, once it either started, or stopped, if I continued to test it, I it would either continue to crash in several attempts, or continue to open normally for several attempts.

The drawing that generates the problem reports no errors when I run an Audit. If I start a new drawing, I can successfully attach a PDF.  If I continued to work with the problem drawing, I can sometimes successfully insert a PDF.

For the test below, I simply opened the drawing, and attempted to attach the PDF, so no commands proceeded it. The command prompt has the following,
: _pdfattach

Insertion point:

Not opened for write AcDbPdfDefinition: (DAD0)
The PDF's I tried to attach were of spreadsheets. I eventually solved the problem in one case by converting the PDF to a raster image. Then on the other by just pasting the cells from the spreadsheet.

I appreciate any suggestions.

  • I've run into a similar issue, in my case I was able to drag and drop the PDF file into the open drawing.
  • Thanks for the idea, but it did not work for me, and BricsCAD generates the same error.

by the way, I also noted that that last 4 characters of the error message on the command prompt does vary with the specific PDF I choose.  It might say (DC58) for one PDF file, and (DAD0) for a different one.
