Drag a drawing (not a block) from the Drawing Explorer into an open drawing

I am probably expecting the drawing explorer to work in completely the wrong way, but I would like to be able to drag a drawing that is in my folders section of the Drawing Explorer into my open drawing.

I don't really want to make my drawing a block so I can do this, as these are predominantly parametric drawings, so I can't see why I would want to make it a block as there will only ever be one design in each drawing file.

I know that I could probably do this using tool palettes, but there are quite a lot of them and this could become quite unwieldy even with multiple tabs.

Am I doing this completely wrong or is this perhaps a function that could be incorporated into Bricscad in a later version?

I have attached a .jpg to illustrate what I am trying to explain.

Thanks for any help in advance.

  • Hi David,

Try right clicking on a drawing in the folder list. This provides 3 options:
    1. Open Drawing
    2. Insert Drawing as Block
    3. Add to current Tool Palettes as a Block
An alternative would be to use windows explorer instead, dragging and dropping drawings from there.

  • Jason,

    How thick am I!

I don't know why I didn't think to try right clicking!

This is close enough, so thank you very much for this; just a shame it can't be brought in exploded.

Thanks very much for the quick and simple reply.
