Xrefs displayed very lightly

I just started using version 15 and have the latest version downloaded this morning. 15.1.11. When I overlay an xref into my drawing it is attached in the background and is displayed very lightly. This is fine when it is just reference but our drawings are made up almost entirely of xrefs and so they must display and plot as part of the drawing. I am sure that there is a setting that I cannot find to rectify the situation but any help would be appreciated.

In V15 support for the XDWGFADECTL setting was added, this is probably what you are looking for0
