Meshes aren't properly hiding

I have a drawing that has both 3DSolids, as well as mesh objects.  I also have defined a visual style [Hidden-No_tangent_lines] that doesn't show all the facets of a curve.  But, the mesh objects do not hide properly when I have a viewport set to that visual style.  They do hide properly when I set the shade to the built-in hidden render.

Any work-around besides re-doing all the mesh objects as Solids?

Attached is a drawing showing my issue.

  •  I just realized that the regular hidden option does not show the multi-faceted edged for a cylindrical surface.  I think I confused it with the legacy hidden option for output.  But, I still would like to be able to create my own visual styles.  I don't think there is an option to exclude meshes from the obscured lines removal.

  •  Here is a screen grab of the visualstyles setting that won't hide meshes.
