Fading Rasters on XREF

I have an aerial raster image that is used as the base for a number of drawings.  I have this as an xref in the individual drawing files.

Is it possible to fade the xref raster image differently in each individual drawing.  For example:
  • a site plan would have the raster shown at 100%
  • a catchment plan would fade the image to highlight the details
thanks

  • Hi Brian,

As far as I'm aware it's not possible to fade an image that is attached as part of an Xref. To do this would require layer transparency, which is a requested, but yet to be implemented feature. There are a couple of potential workarounds that I can see:
    • Attach the image directly, rather than nested in an xref. Select the attached image, then on the Property Bar you'll see an option to set its level of fade.
    • In the Xref create multiple copies of the image, each on a different layer and with different fade level. Then in your target drawing use layer control to turn the layer on with the image at the desired fade level.
