http://prntscr.com/6ha9h9 i just update my version as you can see from the print screen the entity setting has change to selected all. could someone please tell me how i change it back

    I would guess that you have the QUAD turned on and you are working in the 3D workspace, with this set of settings active the application will attempt to find closed areas to allow you to easily create an extrusion - rather handy when working in 3D.  You can change your workspace and toggle the QUAD using the buttons at the bottom right of your screen, just above your taskbar/clock - they don't really look like buttons, just light and dark text in boxes.  If you don't see the quad and workspace options, at the far right of the status bar there is a black downward pointing arrow, click this guy to bring up some options for additional buttons that you can turn on (or off).

    Also, please check SELECTIONMODES settings - at affects the preview selection.
