VBA

Okay, official statement:Today's Vision: not including VBA in intellicad. This means that thedevelopment environment, with the editor and compiler is absentand COM applications that talk to IntelliCAD have to be made with VB or inanother VBA environment(eg office). We will make an evaluation, before we make a definitive decision in a majorupgrade. What are our considerations for not adding VBA ;- we have the impression that it has low use,- developers who want share or sell applications use VB, not VBA,- COM can still be used in C++, VB or other VBA environments,- the size of intellicad install set reduces drastically,- the freed budget is used for other developments, which are more applicablefor all users. For example in this version I-drop is already integrated, butstill hidden and not documented. We have a whole list of features that willbe integrated in the coming versions.

  • Due to the reactions we received until today on the removal of VBA out ofIntelliCAD, we reconsider to bring out a version with VBA and a versionwithout. The version with VBA will be more expensive.Alternatively you can use VB instead of VBA.Any language that supports Microsoft COM, such as Visual Basic forApplications or macros in Excel and Word, can access the IntelliCAD COMobject. Programs can either be written with Visual Basic Professional (VB)or with the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) language that is supportedin Windows applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • We purchased a copy to IntelliCAD Version 2.2 to investigate whether we could use IntelliCAD rather than AutoCAD as a foundation for our engineering design programs. We were going to use either VB or Delphi to access the objects in the program. What we found was that IntelliCAD did not expose in the same way and to the same extent the functionally that AutoCAD objects provided. We ended up purchacing, at great expense, many additional copies of AutoCAD when IntelliCAD would not do the job. You may want to consider , if you have a VBA version and are able, to expose the objects so that what works as a COM program using AutoCAD also works for IntelliCAD.

  • Just for clarity,At the VBA is not available in the new intellicad, but COM is not affected and will keep improving. However the differences between icad and acad COM object model are too large and we don't foresee an autocad COM program to run on intellicad in the future.regards, sander
