Icad & Win Me
Is Icad 0025 supposed to work with Windows ME? Is anyone using it with ME experiencing more than usual crashes?I have a client I provide Icad support to and he is about to chuck it all in for the second time in 6 months and go AutoCAD LT which is more stable.Bricsnet - Please tell me that the next version will be crash-proof.Regards to ALL!!from Australia

HII am using ME and Icad 2.20025 and it is a rather unstable combination. On the other hand Icad is unstable running on win98 to.I am also having problems with xrefs and there paths. It seems impossible to change path using the xref manager dialog box. When copying and pasting entities between drawings sometimes just some of the entities ends up on the second drawing. This happens with all kinds of entities but with blocks it happens often but not always.I do not know if these problems are significant to Icad running on ME or not.Carl

I support customers using ver 2.25 running under Windows 2000, stability seems ok. What I would say, and this is not laying all the blame on Microsofts door, is that I have found ME to be no more stable than Win98 and sometimes less stable. Windows 2000 is the only way foward for any serious business users. All that said and done Icad still should be aiming to be more or as stable as the Auotcad products it is aiming to replace. Obviously the customer won't like changing OS from a cost stand point, but it would be better. By the way was the ME installation(s) upgrades or Fresh installs or from factory installs.

Thanks for all your replies. Yes Laith the ME was a factory install.

the problem is with icad. all of the components of icad that look like autocad are only there to support autocad and are not functional. therefore, you cannot change a path without detaching and reattaching.
