New Version

When is the expected release of a new bug-fixed version? Earlier, the release date was scheduled to be released sometime in June. What is the new expected release date?

  • I here ya, I don't understand how this hunk of crap could have been released in the first place, This has to be the most unstable cad system I've ever used. Here at the office we bought into a lease agreement for the updates. It was advertised as some 30 updates a year, what's up? My suggestion to Bricsnet: by a copy of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ProE to see how a real cad system works

  • The difference is the cost!5000$ plus vs. 200$ minus

  • The difference is the cost!>5000$ plus vs. 200$ minusi agree, but bricsnet should not advertise their system as being professional grade and autocad2000 compatble, because it's not.

  • It wouldn't be so bad if I had something to look forward to....

  • face it, anyone using bricsnet is doomed!! what a trade off "jefferson", $3000-200 = $2800 savings - ($50/hr x 1 million hours of lost time) = out of business

  • The real piece of crap out there is Autocad LT. I rather use a hammer and chisel than use Autocad LT. I do only simpe drawings but find Intellicad both fast and versatile. I will be glad, though, if Microsoft and/or Autodesk stopped playing games with consumers. I'd switch in a heart beat if open source software was an option.

  • I've got to respond in favour of Architecturals / IntelliCAD.... I've been using it since beta versions having previously used AutoCAD LT. If BA/ICAD hadn't been available I'd not have been able to afford the switch to working in 3D - which I have found has completely changed my approach to design. I'd not want to go back.I'm a one-man architectural practice, I do housing and small community buildings. I run the package on a HP workstation with Win2000Pro. It fouls up occasionally, but nothing that an occasional restart won't sort. In general it's stable and is certainly very usable at (my) professional level. Each update version gets better - perhaps we'd all like it to be spot-on from day one, but the savings in cost WAY outweigh the few lost hours due to software problems.Keep improving it please - better rendering and walkthroughs, etc. But it's a good product.

  • Thanks for the positive note. I've been using ICAD ver. 2.2.0019 (had some snapping problems with .0025 and went back) and think it's great.I'm curious about Architecturals.. didn't think anyone actually used it!What has been your experience with Architecturals? How do you use it?I design/build residential stuff and have been using SketchUp to work out spatial and form ideas.

  • Well, I am a bit surprised at the feedback to this topic. I have been using Cad products for the last ten years and have had my run in's with people who for get that Cadd is only a tool and not a product that draws for you. Granted, this software has it's bugs and drawbacks however mundane they may seem. The fact remains that a good draftsman no matter the field he or she works in can utilize this software like any other. Just remember that Briscnet is not Autodesk and we should be part of the solution. As for the programmers of Intellicad they should be asking the users to assist with the coding in some way, other than what's wrong with the software.

  • Hi McI I use BA/ICAD for design of houses and small community buildings, sometimes all new-build, sometimes incorporating refurb of exiting buildings. I use it to design and visualise in 3D, to produce plans / sections / elevations, and to produce perspective renderings, sometimes as standalone presentation drawings, sometimes for photomontages (cutting and pasting into PhotoDraw) and sometimes to sketch over. I did a "sketch" scheme (but almost up to planning application detail) within one day for a small housing scheme - designed and produced plans/sections/elevs (using standard forms of construction that are now in my "library"), got digital map info and pasted plans into a site layout, took digital pics on site and pasted perspective renderings of houses into them. Not bad for such inexpensive software.Like you, I was beginning to wonder if anyone else (certainly in the UK) was using it... but it's good.

  • I have been using Intellicad since Visio first released it. It is a great product at a great price. From what I gather, AutoCad has its own bugs and AutoDesk still cleans out your pockets with their purchase price. Bricsnet and the rest of the Consortium, keep up the good work!

  • face it, anyone using bricsnet is doomed!! what>a trade off "jefferson", $3000-200 = $2800>savings - ($50/hr x 1 million hours of lost time)>= out of businessThen go use AutoCAD and quit your complaining.

  • Mr. Bixby,I am impressed. It's great to hear that BA actually works! Now I have to look into my pocketbook and check my courage to see about taking another leap.Anyone else out there using Architecturals?

  • my biggest concern with architecturals is how specialized the product is that i work with. I design greenhouses that use extruded aluminum rafters, beams and post all of which have very intricate shapes. does anyone know if architecturals can handle something that is sub standard?

  • Architecturals can do anything! It is the best 3D architectutal modelling programm I ever saw. Of course the learning time is adequate for such a complex programm but it works great !

  • Hi Phil,Good to hear from someone who believes in our mission to offer good 3D modelling software for a reasonable price! And there is more to come. Bricsnet is about to release version 3.0 of Architecturals. This version includes some substantial new functionalities that dramatically facilitates the 3D modelling. More details about these improvements will be posted on the Arhitecturals forum soon.Regards,Louis

  • I just heard back from Support about the next release."There should be a new release within 2 or 3 weeks. This will most likely be 2.2.0027.Regards,Shawn NilesDesign Products Support SpecialistBricsnet US"

  • I'm curious that the Architecturals group at BricsNet is so quiet. That's why I was wondering if anyone actually uses the program.

  • Will this version be the same as "ICAD 2001" as released by the other ITC companies?
