Ceate new Layer with attributes of an existing layer

Is there a way to create a new layer that has all the same attributes of an existing layer, so I don't have to create a new one from scratch every time?  I know AutoCAD has this feature, by choosing an existing layer, then click new.

  • Works like that for me, but you have to type in a new name.
No, wait, what I do is copy the text of the name of the existing layer, click New, paste in the existing name, and modify it.

The procedure is: select the source layer, then click the New icon. All attributes of the source layer are copied to the new layer, you only have to type a new name to replace the NewLayer1 default name. It works correctly in V15 and V16. Are you using an older version?
  • And before that copy the source layer, Rename the source layer and then paste.
