.nwd to .dwg conversion

Not with BricsCAD no, unfortunately. I have requested this previously. Navisworks can export FBX (Filmbox) and DWFx 3D, neither of these formats can be imported into BricsCAD. RedWay3D version 4.1 supports FBX but Bricsys says they have no plans to move to this new version.
There is a solution however, but it's expensive though it does work very very well when I tested it last year. The Australian company iConstruct has a plug-in to Navisworks that has a module that allows exporting directly to DWG, it even allows the user to section plane and slice the model prior to export.

AutoCAD imports FBX but it's broken in a way that it's supposed to import all the colours of objects and place them on their own layer. Unfortunately, all it does is import all objects on to one layer and fails to bring in the colours which creates an enormous amount of back work. Autodesk claim 'seamless integration between their applications' not in my experience.
Funnily enough, Importing the exported FBX from Navisworks into the 3rd party Rhino3D successfully imports all the colours and a DWG can be saved.
http://www.okino.com does DWFx 3D to DWG conversion, quite a bit cheaper than iConstruct and it's a horrible old style looking software, it works though.0 -
Many thanks Ketracel... a comprehensive response!Alan-1

what does that mean ?
Which version are we now ?I looked at RSDK4.1 and 4.2 and 4.3 ...
There is so much wonderful stuff.
I wished Bricscad would use 10% of it.0 -
Michael this quite an old thread, V19 is using Redway3D V4.3. I'm pretty sure that Bricsys ares using a lot more than 10%, it is indeed wonderful stuff. You can check the version using the REDSDKINFO command. V19 includes the FBXEXPORT command for export, there isn't an option for import.
The OP requested .nwd -> .dwg. This recent announcement by the ODA raises the possibility of this in the future.

Got it,
Everything fine.0 -
Looks like ODA started to work on Navisworks files in 2018
and AFAIK have a a SDK (soon).
Does this mean Bricscad V22.2 will be able to at least show
Navisworks files ?My client's "clients" do not export any files.
They just expect you to be compatible.
So I would get IFC in best case, mostly just Revit (which is still far from lossless)
and more and more NWD now.
(Which I can't open anywhere)As I do Visualization, NV's only export option being FBX would still be great for me.
But as said they usually don't mess with exporting.0
