Attribute Text Background Masking

Is there a way to have the background masking functionality, available for singleline or multiline text, when creating attributes? I wish to have a block with a line that is masked behind my attribute.

In the 'Define Attribute' dialog toggle the 'Multi lines' flag, click on the button next to the 'Default' field and apply the mask using the 'A' button in the 'Text Formatting' dialog.
