section a 3D face

I have a 3d solid (concrete tank) and some triangular 3d faces (natural surface and design surfaces). I'd like to cut and display a section through the solid and faces.
As far as I can tell all the tools that are available such as solprof, flatshot, section, etc will only work on the 3D solid. Is there anyway to cut a section through the 3D faces as well?

  • If you convert the 3DFACEs to REGIONs you will be able to run sectioning commands that include your surfaces. Just run the REGION command and when prompted select 3DFACEs. You can join the generated regions together to form an ACIS surface by using DMSTITCH.

  •  Jason,

Thanks for your reply. I am having mixed results. The REGION command works a treat, all the 3D faces are converted to regions. DMSTITCH however, changes some of the regions to a 3D solid and some to a surface. The SECTION command doesn't work with the surfaces. Am I potentially doing something wrong?
