Though you clearly know CAD well, and have clear goals about what you want to accomplish, you are a novice with BricsCAD. It might be both very beneficial and very cost effective to seek a consultant who knows BricsCAD very well. With video conferencing and screen sharing, that individual does not even need to be nearby. Though, I think it is preferable to have someone local.Once they understand how you want to work, and your end goals, he would be able to advise you about the best approach and also tutor you on the process. They can advise you if there are any barriers to doing what you want with BricsCAD, which may prevent you from going down a path that you need to later abandon. They will also know any work-arounds or other approaches that may satisfy your need. It may save you many hours of investigation yourself, and end up saving a lot of money.Note that I am NOT offering myself for that role, or even know of someone who is available. Locally, there is a SolidWorks user group that I attend regularly. That is a great place to talk with others and ask for advice. I don't now how many cities have enough concentrations of users to warrant a regular user group meeting. But, even if there are 5 users, they may desire to get together for an even once a year. If it is a small number, then many businesses will have enough space to host a meeting at their business. Or just meet at a Cafe.-joe0

@ Benjamin:
I have never said that you can create a new layout from inside the _PAGESETUP panel.
You have to right click a layout tab or use the _LAYOUT command to create a new layout, either from scratch or from a template.
Note that a template can be a .dwt file but also a .dwg file. So what you refer to in post #30 can be accomplished in BricsCAD.0 -
Maybe you have another solution to copy a layout for an other open folder?Because as i said, "right click the layout tab, then choose 'From Template...' and select the source file" is not very practical...
Benjamin, I don't understand what you mean. In what way is it not practical? It's very easy and fast, and it copies the entire layout, including the page setup and any viewports or other things drawn on the layout. And it can copy a layout from any .dwg file, whether that file is open or not.
If you only want to copy the things that are drawn on the layout, and not the page setup, and if the source file is already open, then it's easier to use Select All and Copy and Paste. But if the source file is not already open, it's easier to use "From template..." even if you don't want to copy the page setup.0 -
Perhaps there is some confusion between PAGESETUP & LAYOUT? The Drawing Explorer confuses things here as it uses the same panel to panel to manage both. It is also possible to pull PAGESETUPs & LAYOUTs in from a file. This requires you to use PSETUPIN & LAYOUT commands respectively. Some commands such as PSETUPIN have a command line only version, which you can access by putting a minus sign in front of the command e.g. -PSETUPIN. This is helpful when you are trying to right scripts and macros. I have a sample setup for BricsCAD available on my website that include some examples of both.
In regards to setting viewport properties, you can adjust zoom scale, lock etc.. using the Property Bar. Creating templates allows you to set your drawing up with the scale you most commonly use. You can also customise the standard scale list using SCALELISTEDIT.

In that way I need to click "from template" as many time that i need layouts...0 -
The "From template..." option allows you to copy all the layouts from one file, all at once. Or as many as you want.
Do you need to copy layouts from several .dwg files all into one file? A custom command would probably allow you to do that. If you tell us exactly what you're trying to do, I'm sure someone can suggest a custom command that would do it.FromTemplate.png0 -
My mistake, I didn't notice that you can copy many in one move...So i will do that right now...Thx0
