3D model edit

My goal is to create a 3d machined part. These parts that i will be created will have a good bit of detail on the outside diameter and inside diameter of the part. I have no problem creating my 2d sketch to the desired dimensions and revolving the sketch to create the 3d model, but if something within the model needs to be changed I'm not sure how to get back to that sketch to change what i need to change. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

  • Welcome to the world of direct modeling!
To edit a 3d solid use PushPull and Move/Rotate tools on its faces and edges.
Use 3d constraints on faces/edges to create a parametric model from any geometry.
If you need history-based design, use LISP.
  • You can adjust DELOBJ in SETTINGS to always retain 2D source geometry, or prompt you before deleting. You can also use tools like GENERATEBOUNDARY, XEDGES, and OFFSET to extract 2D geometry from 3D solids. These are all easily accessed from the QUAD.
