Have I stumbled onto the answer for slow glitchy paperspace with this temporary fix?

Resize the window and improve performance

Hi, im getting very slow performance when moving/resizing objects in paperspace.

I found a temporary fix is to resize the whole window and then maximize again (please see above link).

Does anyone know from this test what my problem is and how it can be fixed?

  •  Here is one guess.  An object in a dwg is stored with 12 decimal places of accuracy.  But, the display does not place them with that level of precision.  This internal data list was known as a "display list", well, at least years ago, it was. Also, things like circles are really only represented as a series of straight lines.  However, the CAD program sets the number of straight lines depending on how far out your are zoomed.  So, if you have a drawing of a house on an Acre sized lot, the circle that represents the hinge on a door, is probably represented as a square. If you zoom into that hinge, then you will see a square.  But, if you then use the Regen command, that hinge will now be shown as a circle.  If you zoom back out to the acre lot, it will force a regeneration.

I believe there are similar "display list" for each of the viewports.  So, it is possible that your zooming efforts forced those display lists to be regenerated, perhaps at a coarser resolution.

Again, this is all guessing, since my knowledge of the details of these things is quite old. Hopefully, someone else who can speak with more knowledge will add their insight.
