Stop Elements Uniting

 How do I stop elements from uniting/combining when generating sections. e.g. a roof firring piece sits on a roof joist (2 separate entities sharing a common face, but both timber and both part of a roof) but when a section is generated along the joist the resulting entity is drawn as one element. Any suggestions would be welcome.

This is controlled by the 'Union Section' property of a Physical Material.
For concrete or masonry this union is desirable, for timber it usually isn't...

Thanks Hans for the suggestion: this is indeed the way to control it, but unfortunately this feature does not work in the current release. We are on it, will be fixed as soon as possible.
