V17 Activation Problem on Windows 10

Just "upgraded" (and I use the term loosely) to Windows 10 from Windows 7.

Everything worked great in Win 7, now I can't get V17 activated.

I deactivated V17 Pro license before the upgrade. After upgrading I get an activation failure (Error Code 2).

I have tried un-setting the Read Only folder/file properties in the "Users/user_name/AppData/Local/Bricsys" and "Users/user_name/AppData/Roaming" folders (and subfolders), but nothing works.

I am signed in to Win 10 under my user name, and have Administrator privileges.

I've searched for "Windows 10" and "activation" in this forum searchbox, but no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Try right clicking on the BricsCAD desktop icon and select 'Run as administrator' from the menu. When prompted enter your license key. Once activated you can run BricsCAD in the normal way.

  • thanks Jason, that worked.

It's funny, though, I did exactly that in an earlier attempt and it worked but apparently the license activation wasn't "remembered". When I closed Bcad then reopened, I got the same Activation window.

To be sure it worked this time I ran it as Administrator, activated, closed Bcad, then rebooted. It's working fine now.

    Cheers!
