Lost Drawing Explorer Window

Hi, tried to see if this has been discussed before... I am using a trial ver 17 and the Drawing Explorer window does not display when I hit the Entities Properties button (say to access layers or xrefs). Nothing happens and I have to press to get control back. It is as though the window is off screen somewhere. I have tried it with 2 monitors - nothing, and I have tried editing various parameters in regedit.

Can anyone assist please.

  • @Jason, it's about the Drawing Explorer dialog, not the text editor.
@Alan, choose Customize in the Tools menu (or right click on a toolbar, then choose Customize in the context menu) and click the 'Revert to defaults' button. If this doesn't help, close BricsCAD and go to "PROFILE PRESETS" on the Welcom dialog and reset your user profile.

Yes, but the reasoning is the same. I should of given more detail in my initial post. BricsCAD windows, such as Drawing Explorer, Text Editor, Attribute Editor etc.. store their screen position in the registry. Changing your screen setup from multiple to single display can lead to these windows displaying off screen. Laptop users are generally the ones that hit this issue the most.

As these window locations aren't stored with your Workspace (Workspaces are saved to the root CUI), 'Revert to defaults' won't have any effect. This approach however will work for toolbars. Resetting your Profile will fix the issue, but you will lose ALL your other settings too, such as your default template, search path, screen colours etc. Therefore I would only do this as a last resort.

The Lost text editor window post has links to some LISP options to reset toolbars, and windows.
