New to bricscad - CRASH in mac version

I'v installed BricsCAD on my mac pro computer and opened a good file. It looks great but...while correcting XREF path of A drawing I have loaded the program crashed and file can no longer be opened...

  1. Is the mac version prone to instability like that?
  2. Is there a way to salvage the file?
  3. any suggestions how to avoid situations like this

I can add that the file was created by another program in Windows 7 residing on same computer under parallels.
