How to make BMEXTERNALIZE use template

I recently posted this by mistake as a Discussion, so now I try as a question.
I have imported a .step file assembly with various compenents. When I use the BMEXTERNALIZE it creates the new files the same way as "Start from scratch" when using the "New Wizard".
I would prefer it to use my customized default template instead?
Same story when using the "BMOPENCOPY" command.

Any help is appreciated.

    What you are asking seems to be a feature request (I am still using V16 so I can't be sure). IMO it would make more sense to use a purged version of the current drawing as the template (consistent with the _Wblock command).
