PDF import and conversion
Hi guys,
I'm new on here and evaluation Bricscad (Classic at this stage) and like what I see so far however it looks like the lack of a descent built in pdf converter could be a downfall.
I work in an office 90% full of Mac computers so the standard $59us pdf2bricscad plugin will not work and you has to buy the external pdf2cad at $199US per license.
Though there is a bit of a discount of bulk orders it still works out more expensive when you add the cost of this on top of the Bricscad license with support and upgrades over 5 years than Autocad LT
Has anyone else found this? and has a cheaper option?
Does anyone know if Bricsys is developing an in-house solution?
Thanks

Can I ask what you exactly do with the PDFs ?
I can "ungroup" Vector PDFs in Vectorworks to get the geometry,
but normally I lay 2D PDFs under to draw over in 3D. Sometimes I
even avoid to activate snapping for accuracy.
Generally I get DWGs for such purposes, even as 2D underlays.
And additional PDFs as an overview in Preview App.I think it was common to use Illustrator to convert PDF to DXF for such
purposes and there should be a lot of other cheaper solutions which
can do these conversions.
And yes, many of the common cool CAD format converters are still
Windows only. So if really needed here, I would run these from a
Parallels VM Windows.0 -
What about using Inkscape, it is free and I think there is a MAC version?

Sorry, I was talking about the "ungroup" function in my
Vectorwarks CAD App.
(Where "ungroup" does a lot of other hidden useful things
you would not expect)
I don't know if there is a similar option in Bricscad to get
the vector geometry out of a PDF too.0
