I have both AutoCAD 2007 and BricsCAD 16 on my computer. AutoCAD Xref's just fine, But in BricsCAD all I get is the path to the xref drawing (floor plan). What setting needs to change so that I get the drawing and not just the path?needs

What you are seeing points to missing xrefs. Check the paths of the xrefs and/or your search path.
