Rename layers

Hello, is there anyway to rename layers adding a prefix, without doing it one by one? For example i have 2 layers: architecture and topography and I want Old_architecture and Old_topography. thanks

  • I was happy to find a find and replace feature in Bricscad.
But if I got that right it works for Text only.
I also would like to have a global rename tool that works
for everything including Layer and Object Names.
    But maybe there is already.

How about using the -RENAME command?

Choose the Layer option, and specify 'architecture* ' to select all layers with names starting with 'architecture'
then specify 'Old_architecture*' as the new name.
    That's it...

EDIT: this forum software is eating my asterisks... * so I was forced to add an unwanted space after the asterisk in 'architecture* ' to prevent the asterisk from being eaten...

So this would also allow to find all Layers or Objects e.g.
A_xxxxxxx to be found and replace A by B to achieve a
    B_xxxxx ?
Or e.g. all Layers including "house" replaced to "building"

Or all Materials including "concrete" changed to "wood"
    and such things ?

Or select a bunch of Layers and add a prefeix like "1st_Floor_"
