BOM - Customization?

Hi all
Is there any obvious way to make a custom BOM?
By that I mean in several columns, adding/removing items...
Any other nice tricks I've been missing?
Documentation is quite short on the subject.

Edit: Something like this (image) that could be easily store in ex: table styles
and used over and over, with reliable and consistent results.
