How to disable auto BAK file creation/update on dwg file open

Bricscad is creating/updating BAK file on dwg file open. I can't find how to disable this. How do I stop BC doing this please? Thanks :)

I have my Auto Backups of all Apps in a certain Folder Structure
    on my (fast) local Disk.
That way BAK Files won't clutter my project folders but they are
still there in case I need them.

SAVEFILEPATH allows you to move BAK files to another location
(Don't forget to clean up from time to time)

ISAVEBAK should allow you to disable BAK Files completly.

  • Thanks for your response Michael. You have some good points there. The issue I have isnt the bak file creation or location but the fact that BC updates the file savedate and savetime in windows explorer on opening of a file. This is happening to me but not my colleague (he doesnt know what the setting is for this). I used to use Autocad which only changes a dwg file's date and time if you hit the save button. This is what I am wanting.

  • Hello Brinbob

The creation of bak files can be disabled in the settings menu.

Type setting, goto program options>open and save>Incremental save backup

then disable the create bakfile box!

  • OK, got it.
I don't know why BC does this or how to avoid.

And BTW mixed up BAK Files with my SV$ Backups.
    SV$ save in SAVEFILEPATH.
BAK sit still beside the Drawing File.

But on Mac, my BAK save date doesn't change by only opening
the Drawing File. Or when manipulating views.
Even changing the file by adding and again deleting an Object and
QLSAVE didn't change BAK date !
Only when real changes happen and QLSAVE made my
    BAK date change.
