Help: elevation data visualisation

Dear all,

Sorry for a most probably very basic question. I am very new to Architecture CAD and I don't manage to understand how to use the .dwg file of my land surveyor to generate a section for my construction permit.
Here I attach two files (one 3D generated format; one including the overall plan and the elevation values all stored in one layer). My idea was to use the elevation points to generate terrain and then to get a section but I feel more than a bit lost.
Any idea?

The goal is to get an authorization for installing greenhouses on a former sportfield in a church surrounding for urban farming.

Thanks a lot to you guys in advance,
Best,
Ben

  • Ben I can't help you directly but as a surveyor I often section my model for designers who can't do it themselves.
With the software we (I) have it's a piece of cake,
From that 3D model (DTM) you should (possibly could) be able to do that by draping lines across that 3D model in Bricscad and (in my software) flatten the resulting polyline and have your section in 2d format.
If you really get stuck ask the surveyor to do it.
Or if you're really really stuck I'd do it for you.
Just need to know where your sections are. Draw them on your dwg where needed.

  • I think in plain Bricscad, there isn't any real way to generate DTMs from
    3D Points or Contours.
For Windows, there seem to be a lot of commercial 3rd party plugins for
    Bricscad available.

  • Looks like that could change for Bricscad v19 ...
