Remove Default View on Layout Tab

Hey,

I am just starting to work with layout views so sorry if this is a really basic question. When I create a new set of base views in the view tab there is a default 3D view automatically placed in the new layout view. If I try to delete it the tab becomes unusable. Even the cursor disappears when I move it into the layout tab. Is there anyway to stop this default 3D image from being placed in a new tab?

  • Yes you can switch the automatic creation of viewports off: set the system variable CREATEVIEWPORTS = 0. You can do this in the command bar or in the the Settings dialog under Drawing / Viewports, Layouts and Tabs.
