Adaptive Grid Features - Direct Distance - wrong sequence ?

In general,
absolutely great Feature !

But as much as I try, I don't get used to its workflow direction.
For me it feels completely flipped and incompatible to my ergonomic.
I think it it has to do with our language which influenced our thinking.

I see Editing of Dsitance between to Object's Edges like a Move Action.
And following my language this results in following sentence

  • I want this Element (Click to Select),
  • move (Tool)
  • from here (Click to choose Origin)
  • to there (Click Distance or DYNDIM Input)

So I would see Direct Distance Editing like :

  • I want to have the Distance from my Object's Edge (Click to Select + Origin),
  • from this Object's Edge (Click to Select + Origin),
  • (DYNDIM Read Out : arbitrary value cm),
  • to be 60 cm (DYNDIM Input : 60 + ENTER).

Which means,
first Edge Selection moves ....

But in Bricscad the second Selection moves.
Which makes me feel the Tool's Flow is flipped.
For me it works like a sentence and grammar :

  • I want to have, from that Object's Edge,
  • my Object's Edge,
  • to be 60 cm away.

Which for me sounds and "thinks" extremely clunky.

So before I write any Feature Request :

  • Add Option in Settings to flip Direct Distance Flow
  • Activate resulting DynDim automatically with needed Click
  • Try to show DynDims always inside View Window if any possible
    (like when zoomed in)

I wanted to ask the Forum for other opinions.

The above command workflow applies to the regular MOVE command. The Adaptive Grid Snap applies to parallel moves only, and in this workflow the 'from here' click is not needed, therfore the movement starts when the entitiy is selected (e.g. PushPull command or when using the Manipulator).

    Hello Louis,
yes that was for the Move Tool, as an example,
which direction or sequence we are used in UX terms.

The Adaptive Grid Snap applies to parallel moves only, and in this workflow the 'from here' click is not needed, therfore the movement starts when the entitiy is selected (e.g. PushPull command or when using the Manipulator).

    That is all super great.
(especially "parallel move only", like a lock to a single axis)

It is just that I would expect, that the first Selection moves - not the second.

Like we always select the Object first, that will be manipulated.
(which I think is conditioned by our Language)
    Analogy in language :
Louis has to go to the train station

Currently it feels more like a :
To the train station, Louis has to go

So my wish would be to reverse the way the direct move operates or requires input.

  • "To the train station, Louis has to go"
it happens anywhere, often inconvenient, in older age.
