Stair Object

I am exited to see that V19 finally got a "parametric Stair" in Component Library.

And I think this is the way to go :
To add such Architectural Object as parametric Insertion Objects
(Which you could adapt to your special needs - if you are capable of)
and not as usual as a fixed Tool, that creates a limited Plugin Object.

I think this could work well for all kind of things like Stairs, Railings,
Trussed Beams, ....
In a way that e.g. Users can graphically edit a 2D Path of a Railing,
like adding additional vertices, or stretch a Stair to extend while keeping
theirs slope ratio and such things.

If I now think about how I would like to build a Stair, I would like to :

  • start from ground - to be visible and editable from the current Story I'm working in.
  • to have a "BIM_SUBTRACT" Volume to auto-cut the Slab above (similar like a Door)
  • and of course a lot of wishes for further features ...

So generally, in the near Future,
is Bricsys providing us centrally with more basic needed Insertion Objects in their Libraries ?

Or, since the intergration of "Parametrize",
is this more meant that each User/Office is meant to try that itself ?
Or a thrird party market ?
Or will there a come an Exchange Section on Bricsys.com where users
can share their custom Insertion Objects ?
.

And a last question,
is there a reason why Library Components are "Block References"
and not standard Blocks ?

(I may not really understand how the different Types really work and what their limits are,
but a real Block sounds more versatile to me.
Saved in File once inserted, easy to make changes and duplicates of it, saving file size, ...)

  • EDIT :
Oh, I see now, Stair does already have a BIM_SUBTRACT Component !

(just couldn't see that as my Quick Draw-ed Asseembly's Slab was drawn
    above Z Level)
